Police Investigate Smash-and-Grab Robberies in Montclair, NJ
MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Local law enforcement is actively searching for an individual connected to a string of break-ins targeting businesses in Montclair.
Recent Incidents
Over the course of the weekend, police reported that a suspect executed a series of smash-and-grab robberies, successfully breaking into multiple establishments, including Chicken and Shawarma on Bloomfield Avenue. The robberies occurred between last Friday and Sunday.
During these incidents, authorities disclosed that the suspect managed to steal approximately $200 from the cash register at Chicken and Shawarma.
Details from Business Owners
On Sunday, the perpetrator targeted another local business, Marcel Bakery and Kitchen. Owner Daniel Benzeev commented on the incident, stating, “Them two minutes to get in and out they went only to the safe. They didn’t break anything. They didn’t vandalize anything. I mean, it’s my money and the door cost me money but it’s kind of ridiculous to go to jail for $150.”
Public’s Role in the Investigation
Authorities have called on the community for assistance in identifying the suspect and preventing further incidents. The police are urging anyone with information related to the robberies to come forward to aid their ongoing investigation.
