Sean Kingston and Mother Convicted of Fraud Charges
Rapper Sean Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty of multiple fraud charges in a Fort Lauderdale court on Friday, nearly a year after their initial arrest.
Details of the Case
Both Kingston and Turner were accused of deceiving various businesses out of more than $1 million, including a jewelry company, a luxury bed retailer, a used luxury vehicle dealership, and a high-end microLED TV supplier. The fraudulent activities reportedly took place from October 2023 onward, leading to their arrest in May 2024. A SWAT team executed a raid on Kingston’s home in Southwest Ranches, California, following a warrant issued by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Emotional Reactions and Sentencing
Upon hearing the verdict, both Kingston and Turner were visibly emotional, shedding tears in the courtroom. Following the decision, Kingston has been placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring, required to post a surety bond for a home valued at $500,000 and provide $200,000 in cash. In contrast, Turner will remain in federal custody until her sentencing date on July 11.
