James Van Der Beek Unmasked as Griffin on The Masked Singer
Los Angeles – In the latest episode of The Masked Singer, the competition intensified during the “Group B Finals,” with contestants performing as some of the most memorable country musicians.
Group B Finals Highlights
This week’s episode showcased the final performances of Group B contestants Pearl, Griffin, and Boogie Woogie. The entertainers delivered renditions of several classic country songs, including:
- “Here You Come Again”
- “Take Me Home, Country Roads”
- “Something In The Water”
While two performers advanced to the next stage, Griffin was ultimately unmasked and sent home.
The Revelation of Griffin
Griffin was disclosed to be actor James Van Der Beek, renowned for his roles in ’90s classics such as “Dawson’s Creek” and “Varsity Blues.”
“I have always loved to sing,” Van Der Beek, aged 48, expressed to the audience after his unmasking. “I thought I would be a singer. I thought I would be on Broadway.”
He humorously added, “Then when I was 20, I accidentally became a teen idol, so that plan went out the window.”
Recently celebrating his 48th birthday, Van Der Beek reflected on what he described as “the hardest year of his life,” as he has been undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer.
“So to put on a mask and inhabit a character and connect with an audience just with a song and be that connected tissue between me and y’all, it’s been just a blast,” he remarked.

During this heartfelt moment, he was surprised on stage by his six children and wife, Kimberly, who joined him to celebrate his journey.
