NEW YORK – Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old man, Noah Rentas, in relation to the tragic stabbing of 27-year-old Michael Hernandez, which occurred on March 14.
Incident Overview
The incident unfolded following a dispute outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. According to police reports, Rentas, along with several other teenagers, allegedly confronted Hernandez before the altercation escalated, resulting in multiple stab wounds.
Community Response and Vigil
A memorial vigil took place in the Bronx for Michael Hernandez, attended by family and community members. Doris Miranda, Hernandez’s mother, expressed her grief and called for justice, emphasizing her pain as a mother who has lost her child.
“I live in the Bronx and made it here to make sure that he sees my face. I’m a grieving mother. I love my kids, and I’m sure his mother loves him, but she’s not grieving her kid like I grieve mine,” Miranda stated as she confronted Rentas in police custody.
