Unexploded WWII Bomb Disrupts Rail Services in Paris

PARIS – A significant disruption has occurred across Europe following the discovery of an unexploded bomb from World War II near a major railway station in Paris.

Impact on Rail Travel

Eurostar, known for its high-speed train services between the United Kingdom and the European mainland, announced the suspension of all operations at Gare du Nord, its Paris terminal. This situation also affects routes connecting to London and Brussels.

Videos captured by Luc Auffret show the station overflowing with stranded passengers, many of whom are seeking alternative travel arrangements or bracing for delays.

Gare du Nord typically handles approximately 700,000 travelers each day, making it a key transport hub in both France and Europe.

Rare Discovery in a Densely Populated Area

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported related to the bomb’s discovery. While unexploded ordnance from both World Wars is occasionally found throughout France, encountering such munitions in heavily populated locations is quite unusual.
