Investigation Underway Following Bronx Subway Stabbing
NEW YORK – The New York Police Department (NYPD) is turning to the community for assistance in locating a man involved in a recent subway stabbing incident that occurred on a Bronx train.
Incident Overview
On the morning of Friday, April 18, at approximately 7:00 a.m., a 21-year-old male passenger was attacked while riding the southbound 5 train. The stabbing took place in the vicinity of the East 219th Street subway station, falling under the jurisdiction of the 47th Precinct and Transit District 12.
Details of the Attack
According to police reports, the assailant approached the victim, brandished a knife, and without any apparent provocation, inflicted multiple stab wounds to the victim’s torso.
Emergency medical services promptly responded to the scene, transporting the injured man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he is currently in stable condition.
Investigation Status
At this time, authorities have not disclosed whether the attack was random or targeted, and the motive remains unclear. There is also no information indicating a prior relationship between the victim and the suspect.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the search for the attacker continues.
Suspect Description
The suspect is reported to have a medium complexion and was last seen wearing:
- A black vest
- A blue sweatshirt
- Gray pants
- Multi-colored sneakers
