Costco Gas Station Hours Extended for Enhanced Member Convenience
Costco has announced that it is extending the operational hours for its gas stations across North America, a move aimed at improving service for its members. The new hours provide increased accessibility for customers looking to fuel up their vehicles.
New Gas Station Hours
According to Costco CEO Ron Vachris, the enhancements allow stations to remain open for longer periods, generating greater convenience for members. The specific hours now include:
- Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
While these hours are consistent across the majority of locations, variations may occur within California and Hawaii, and members are encouraged to consult the Costco app for precise local times.
Member Response and Usage
Feedback regarding the extended hours has been positive. CFO Gary Millerchip noted that, although it is early in the implementation, the response from members has been encouraging and has led to an uptick in gas station usage. “We’ve been pleased so far with the member reaction,” he stated during a recent earnings call.
Future Expansion Efforts
In conjunction with extending gas station hours, Costco is actively pursuing expansion strategies. Vachris reported plans to open 28 new warehouse locations in fiscal 2025, which includes three relocations, equating to a net addition of 25 new buildings. As of now, Costco operates nearly 900 warehouses globally, with over 600 situated in the U.S.
Recently, the company launched a new location in Sharon, Massachusetts, marking their 620th store in the U.S. and 900th worldwide — a significant milestone for the retailer.
