VPho & Pizzeria: A Cultural Fusion in the Bronx
Bronx, N.Y. – VPho & Pizzeria uniquely blends Italian and Vietnamese culinary traditions within a single establishment.
A New Beginning for a Local Favorite
Originally known as Sorrento’s Pizzeria, this long-standing favorite in a predominantly Italian neighborhood was brought under new ownership when Michael Tran decided to purchase the retired establishment. Alongside his wife, Elizabeth Lee, Tran maintained the classic menu for a year before introducing authentic Vietnamese dishes to excite local palates.
Innovative Dishes Drawing In Crowds
VPho & Pizzeria boasts a diverse menu, featuring renowned dishes that have quickly gained popularity, including the viral Banh Mi pizza and comforting bowls of pho. The restaurant has carved a niche in the Morris Park area, with patrons flocking to experience this cultural culinary hybrid.
Savory Selections: A Fusion Menu
Within this unprecedented menu, customers can delight in both traditional Italian dishes—such as baked ziti and lasagna—and vibrant Vietnamese meals, including rice dishes and steaming soups. A unique aspect of the menus is the shared use of fresh baguettes, which serve as a component for both penne alla vodka and bánh mì sandwiches.
Dedication to Quality
Tran and Lee attribute the restaurant’s growing popularity to their commitment to preparing food with care and authenticity. “I cook for me. If it’s good for me. It’s made for my family….It’s good for customer,” Tran explained, emphasizing his philosophy of cooking.
A Community Destination
VPho & Pizzeria stands out not only for its innovative menu but also for its welcoming atmosphere, making it a beloved hotspot in the neighborhood. Residents can now enjoy a rich tapestry of flavors that celebrate both Italian and Vietnamese heritages.
