New York City to Host 264th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Transit Changes

To support the increased number of attendees, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will enhance services across various transit options including the LIRR, Metro-North, and the NYC Subway:

Subway Recommendations

  • The Lexington Avenue Line (4, 5, 6) offers the most convenient access to the parade.
  • The 5 Av/53 St station (E, M) is also within walking distance to the event.
  • Note: Some stairs at the 77 St (6) station will operate on an enter-only or exit-only basis.

LIRR & Metro-North Services

  • Additional trains will operate before and after the parade to accommodate travelers.
  • Access is made easier via the Grand Central Madison terminal, not far from the parade route.
  • Be aware of alcohol restrictions: LIRR prohibits alcohol consumption during midnight Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, while Metro-North bans it all day Saturday.

Bus Reroutes

Various bus lines will experience rerouting, including:

M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M31, M50, M55, M57, M66, M72, M79 SBS, Q32, as well as many express services.
