New York City celebrated Halloween in style, with festivities taking over neighborhoods, parks, and iconic landmarks. The highlight was the annual Village Halloween Parade, which drew an estimated 2 million spectators and participants in elaborate costumes inspired by this year’s theme, “Creatures of the Cosmos.”
The NYPD reported a safe and orderly event, thanks to heightened security and crowd management measures. “Halloween is one of the most vibrant nights in the city, and we’re proud to make it enjoyable for everyone,” said Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell.
Family-friendly events included pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and trick-or-treating at local businesses. The Bronx Zoo hosted its popular “Boo at the Zoo” event, while Central Park lit up for a spooky nighttime scavenger hunt.
Residents praised the festive atmosphere and community spirit. “This is what makes New York magical,” said Andrew Kim, a Queens resident attending the parade for the first time. “The creativity and energy are unmatched.”
City officials reminded residents to stay safe, advising parents to check candy and ensure children remain in groups while trick-or-treating.
