The Bronx Night Market debuted tonight at Fordham Plaza, drawing thousands of visitors to experience a vibrant celebration of local food, art, and culture. The market, which will run every Friday and Saturday evening through October, features over 50 vendors offering cuisines from around the world, live music performances, and artisan goods.
The initiative is part of the city’s broader effort to support small businesses and revitalize the Bronx’s economy. “The Bronx Night Market is a showcase of our borough’s creativity and resilience,” said Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson. “It’s a place where people can come together to celebrate our diversity and talent.”
Crowds enjoyed everything from Dominican mofongo and Nigerian suya to Italian cannoli and vegan delicacies. Local musicians and dancers entertained visitors, creating a festive atmosphere that organizers hope will attract both locals and tourists.
Vendors praised the market as an opportunity to reach new customers and grow their businesses. “This is a game-changer for small businesses like mine,” said Maria Torres, owner of a Dominican street food stall. “The energy here is amazing.”
The market’s launch also included community outreach booths providing information on city programs, job opportunities, and health resources. Organizers plan to incorporate educational workshops and family-friendly activities in future weeks.
The success of the opening night has sparked discussions about creating similar markets in other boroughs to promote economic development and cultural exchange.
