New York City, November 24, 2024 — With just days to go until Thanksgiving, final preparations for the 98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade are in full swing. Balloon inflation began today on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, attracting thousands of visitors eager to get a sneak peek at the iconic parade.
Workers meticulously inflated giant balloons of beloved characters, including Snoopy, Baby Yoda, and newcomers like Miguel from Coco. “Seeing the balloons come to life is part of the magic of Thanksgiving,” said volunteer balloon handler Emily Cruz.
This year’s parade will feature over 20 floats, 10 marching bands, and performances by stars such as Taylor Swift, BTS, and the casts of Broadway hits Hamilton: The Revolution and Wicked: The Untold Sequel. Organizers have also promised a surprise finale that has fans speculating online.
Security is a top priority, with NYPD deploying thousands of officers and implementing advanced crowd monitoring technologies. “We’re committed to ensuring a safe and joyful experience for everyone,” said NYPD Commissioner Raymond Harris.
The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, starting at Central Park West and ending at Herald Square. Millions of spectators are expected to line the streets, with millions more tuning in to the live broadcast.
