New York Comic Con (NYCC) returned to the Javits Center today, drawing record-breaking crowds for its four-day celebration of pop culture, comics, and fandom. The 2024 convention, featuring over 200 panels, celebrity meet-and-greets, and exclusive merchandise, is expected to attract more than 250,000 attendees.
This year’s highlights include appearances by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, and acclaimed graphic novelist Alison Bechdel. Attendees also got a sneak peek at upcoming blockbuster films and TV shows, including trailers for the highly anticipated Avengers: Legacy Wars and The Last of Us: Season 2.
The Artist Alley section showcased independent creators, giving fans the chance to interact with writers and illustrators behind their favorite comics. “NYCC is where creativity comes alive,” said Tom Nguyen, an indie comic artist exhibiting at the convention. “It’s incredible to connect with so many passionate fans.”
Security measures were heightened this year, with bag checks and metal detectors at all entrances, ensuring a safe experience for attendees. Organizers also introduced sustainability initiatives, including recycling stations and digital badges.
NYCC will run through October 11, with tickets sold out weeks in advance. Fans unable to attend in person can stream select panels online for the first time, expanding access to the event.
