A new Winter Village opened in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park today, offering residents and visitors a festive destination for the holiday season. The village features an ice-skating rink, holiday market, food trucks, and live entertainment, attracting thousands on its opening day.
The centerpiece of the Winter Village is a massive holiday tree adorned with LED lights, surrounded by small stalls selling handmade goods and seasonal treats. “This is about bringing the holiday magic to every borough,” said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards during the opening ceremony.
Local vendors praised the event as an opportunity to showcase their products and connect with the community. “It’s amazing to be part of something so joyful,” said Emily Chen, who runs a stall selling artisanal candles.
The Winter Village will remain open through January 6, with free admission and special events planned for weekends.
