New York City — The Empire State Building, one of New York’s most iconic landmarks, will unveil a new energy-efficient lighting system tomorrow night. The LED upgrade will reduce the building’s energy consumption by 60%, part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability.
The debut will feature a special light show synchronized to a live performance by the New York Philharmonic in Bryant Park. “This is a marriage of art, technology, and environmental stewardship,” said Anthony Malkin, CEO of Empire State Realty Trust.
The building has become a leader in green retrofitting, setting an example for historic structures worldwide.
