New York City, November 26, 2024 — The 98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade captivated millions of spectators along the streets of Manhattan and millions more tuning in from home. With clear skies and crisp autumn air, the parade delivered an unforgettable display of music, floats, balloons, and performances.
The parade kicked off at 9 a.m. with the iconic Big Apple balloon leading the way, followed by over 20 massive character balloons, including returning favorites like Snoopy and new additions like Miguel from Coco. “It’s magical to see these characters come to life,” said attendee Carla Jimenez, who traveled from Queens with her family.
Crowd favorites included the futuristic Eco-City float, complete with solar panels and wind turbines, and a nostalgic tribute to The Wizard of Oz. Performances by Taylor Swift, BTS, and the casts of Broadway hits had the crowd cheering, while marching bands from across the country showcased their talents.
The finale featured Santa Claus aboard his grand float, marking the official start of the holiday season. Macy’s Parade Executive Producer Will Coss hailed the event as one of the most successful in its history. “This parade is about joy, tradition, and bringing people together,” Coss said.
Spectators praised the event for its energy and inclusivity. “It’s like being part of something bigger than yourself,” said visitor Adam Cohen. Security measures ensured the day went off without incident, with NYPD Commissioner Raymond Harris commending the efforts of law enforcement and organizers.
