NYC Marathon Announces New Route for 2024 Race

The organizers of the New York City Marathon unveiled a new route today for the upcoming 2024 race, promising an even more scenic and inclusive experience for runners and spectators. The new route, which maintains its iconic five-borough course, will introduce changes to highlight cultural landmarks and reduce congestion in key areas.

The most notable change is an expanded loop through the Bronx, adding two miles and incorporating stops near Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo. In Queens, runners will now pass through Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, providing a picturesque view of the Unisphere. “This route celebrates the diversity and beauty of New York City like never before,” said Ted Metellus, Race Director.

The marathon, set for November 3, 2024, is expected to attract more than 50,000 runners from around the world. Organizers emphasized that the updated route prioritizes runner safety and spectator accessibility, with wider lanes and more hydration stations added.

Community groups and businesses along the new route have expressed excitement, anticipating increased foot traffic and local engagement. “This will be a great opportunity to showcase the Bronx’s vibrancy to the world,” said Roberto Garcia, a local business owner.
